During IFC Fall Primary Recruitment, you'll have six exciting days to explore all 26 fraternities!

Tour chapter houses, attend unique events hosted by each fraternity, meet their members, and learn about their values and ideals. This is your opportunity to find the chapter where you feel most at home and truly belong!

Registration:

• Dates: September 10 - September 16
• Cost: $50 base registration fee
• Registration Closes: August 22, 2026 (will receive $500 housing deposit/can get housing contract canceled)
• Late Registration Closes: August 29, 2026  (will not receive $500 housing deposit but can get housing contract canceled)

Here at UW, living in the chapter facility as a new member is primarily expected. Chapter housing is significantly more cost-efficient than university housing, and new members typically want to live with their brothers to keep the sense of belonging and brotherhood. This year, we are allowing potential new members (PNMs) the opportunity to cancel or not cancel their housing contracts. Things you need to know for both options.

Cancelling your housing contract: 
This only applies to first-year and transfer students. You will move right into the chapter facility immediately following recruitment. You will receive your $500 deposit refund from HFS. You are guaranteed a space if you apply for on-campus housing after participating in recruitment, if you decide to withdraw.  

Not canceling your housing contract:
You will live on campus and move into your assigned dorm on September 17. If you decide by the end of recruitment that you want to move into the chapter facility, you will not receive your housing deposit and will have to pay HFS to get out of your contract (this is typically the full amount of your 9-month contract). Not canceling may limit which fraternities will recruit you. Some chapters require first-year live-in requirements. Exceptions are always welcomed, but each chapter has its own expectation(s).

Returning students:

• If you have an on-campus housing contract, you must cancel your own HFS contract and will be subject to cancellation fees. You do not have guaranteed housing on campus if you do not join for any reason.
• If you have signed a lease off campus, you may be required to move into the chapter house if you join a housed chapter. Chapters expect new members to move in and rarely make exceptions for those who have an off-campus lease.
